I picked a Lowrence 4x fish finder and a Anchor Trolly from Al at the Kayak Shack the other week and only just found a few hours spare today so I set about fitting them to the Cuda 14.
The hardest part of it is where to position the fish finder unit. After a lot of head scratching I finally went with my first thought. A nice flat area on the yak not on the centre hatch so I could gain access easy enough.
I was using a mini deck seal which looked like it would fit under the fish finder mount and would keep everything neat and tidy, a quick check and it looked fine.
Marking the holes up and drilled each one, tidy each one up so there was no raggedy edges. Stuck the neoprene ring on for the deck seal then a blob of sealant onto each stainless screw and fastened it down. Next drilled a small pilot hole ready to run the wires through. Then with a hole cutter cut a hole big enough to run both wires through. Putting the biggest holed rubber in and fastening it down then the fish finder mount. All with a blob of sealant on each screw and all stainless.
So that's the finder attached, happy with its placement, just the transducer in place and battery which will be done once I have a box sorted for it.
I put it in place but will tidy the wires up once it is set in place, it got purfectly into the bottom on the hull.
Now for the anchor trolly, easy enough to do, a pad eye front and back, a bungey cord to a carabeana and pulley each end then the line and ring. Once again sealant on each screw. I will be fitting a few more pad eyes on to keep things neat and tidy.
And finally just a cleat next to the seat to lock up the line when at anchor or when the drouge is out.
Well that's all the tinkering for today. Just the battery box and tidy things up a bit and I'm ready to go, thanks for reading, Mike
